Granola

This is a recipe from my mother-in-law that I used to make a lot. Evan goes through breakfast phases, and this, covered in whole-fat vanilla yogurt, was a phase for a long time. Recently, my sister Tori was asking for this recipe. Time to make it again!

Granola

  • 8 cups uncooked oatmeal
  • 3 cups wheat germ
  • 4 cups bran flakes (I use raisin bran, surprise, surprise!)
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2/3 cup cooking oil
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • Raisins (optional-- I use raisin bran so it's a moot point)
Mix well. Spread onto 2 cooking sheets. Bake at 300° for 20 minutes. To make softer granola, do it for a slightly shorter time; if you like the crunch, extend the time.
